Christmas Wisdom

Wishing you a Very, Very, Merry Christmas!

“When we were children we were grateful to those who filled our stockings at Christmas time. Why are we not grateful to God for filling our stockings with legs?” –  G.K. Chesterton

” A good conscience is a continual Christmas.” – Benjamin Franklin

“Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection.” – Winston Churchill

“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” – Saint Teresa of Calcutta

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” – Calvin Coolidge

A Christmas Prayer

Loving Father,
Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate
and open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift
and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing
which Christ brings,
and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning
make us happy to be thy children,
and Christmas evening bring us to our beds
with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven,
for Jesus’ sake.

Amen.

(Robert Louis Stevenson)
