Some Things Never Change

Moses with the Ten Commandments, by Rembrandt

Circa 1300 B.C.

In the 3:45 scene below, from The Ten Commandments, Moses comes down from Mount Sinai with the Tablets of The Law.

Things have gotten a little out of hand while Moses was away.

A story repeated over and over.

And all through the years, the elites who lead the charge away from God all have the same thought: This time, it’s going to be different.

  1. Well, you are certainly living up to the point of your blog — exploring unpopular culture. And I can’t think of anything that is more unpopular than religion in today’s society.

Religion has certainly given way to a secular culture which, unfortunately, is rudderless. Honor, power, glory and pleasure may “feel good” today, but they are not the things we can use as foundation for our families, government, or society.

It seems to me that religion gives guidance that is sorely needed in changing and challenging times. Now, I agree that too often the immoral acts of church leaders drive people away from “church,” but we shouldn’t abandon religion. We need guidance to get through life.

And I admire your willingness to use an old, overacted movie to make your point.

    1. Very well stated, Bill. Another response to the immoral acts of church leaders could be to get more involved – as such involvement is more sorely needed than ever. Thank you for reading and commenting!
